Maximize traffic benefits whilst stalking your favorite RSS feeds for realtime updates

You've discovered news aggregators and are all set to grab one and get started stalking your favorite sites for real time notification of breaking news updates.

But what sort of news aggregator should you use? There are loads that are available and often they are supplied free.

The issue is complicated by the wide variety of names they go under too, such as RSS readers, feed readers, feed aggregators, news readers or search aggregators.

For me, the critical question was whether I should go for software that sits in my personal computer or for a system that I can only access by going online.

Persuasive in my thinking is the fact that I now use exclusively online email services. It's just much easier to let an online service keep up to date with all the technology involved. At the end of the day, I'd much rather the villains were stopped at the end of the road than when they are trying to get into my house.

So I was very pleased when I discovered Bloglines which is an online news aggregator that has been going years and has a huge following.

Whenever, I look at a service today, I always consider the user base and whether I will be joining a community. Communities frequently search within themselves which often brings additional and very welcome site visitors.

The community associated with Bloglines is pretty huge and by making my feed subscriptions public to the Bloglines community and including the odd blog of my own, I can potentially get access to a new source of traffic besides getting the use of a free full function news aggregator.

To check out Bloglines, simply follow the link in the sidebar of this page (rest assured this is not a sponsored link :-) their service is free, costs 'nada' as they say in their FAQs)

I'm sure there are other online news aggregators and when I discover them, I will add their details here so point your news aggregator at this page so you can be notified immediately of updates.

Hope this helps!

Rob
